Chase has partnered with DoorDash to offer DashPass and monthly credits to Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire, Freedom, Freedom Flex, Freedom Unlimited, and Slate cardholders.
Chase Press Release | DoorDash Press Release
There are four potential benefits now available, variously on these cards (as we’ll describe more below):
- Free DashPass membership through December 31, 2027. (Those who activate the benefit in 2027 will still get a full 12 months of the benefit.)
- Two promo discounts of $10 each calendar month will reflect at checkout. This promo will not work on restaurant orders; it only works on grocery, convenience, or other non-restaurant orders on DoorDash. (To activate the promo discount benefit, you need to first activate the free DashPass benefit. After activation, you’ll find the $10 under “Promo codes, rewards & gift cards” at checkout.)
- A $5 monthly DoorDash credit which works for all DoorDash purchases. This ends onJanuary 31, 2025.
- Beginning February 1, 2025, a new monthly benefit for a $5 discount on restaurant orders on DoorDash.
Now here’s the breakdown of the benefits by card:
- Sapphire Reserve cardholders get all four of the above-mentioned benefits. You’ll get DashPass through 2027. And through January 2025, you’ll get one $5 monthly credit which works everywhere and two $10 promo discounts each calendar month which work on non-restaurant orders. Starting February 2025, you’ll get one monthly $5 discount on restaurant orders and two $10 monthly discounts on non-restaurant orders.
- Sapphire & Sapphire Preferred cardholders get DashPass and the non-restaurant credit. You’ll get DashPass through 2027. And you’ll get one $10 promo discount each calendar month which works on non-restaurant orders.
- Freedom & Slate cardholders get a DashPass benefit and a quarterly discount benefit. Starting Febaruary 1, 2025, you’ll be able to enroll for six free months of DashPass. (Those who have not yet used the current/previous version of the DashPass benefit on Freedom and Slate cards have until January 31, 2025, to enroll in the current benefit – three months of free membership followed by nine months of discounted DashPass.)And you’ll get one $10 promo discount each quarter which works on non-restaurant orders. (To activate the promo discount benefit, you need to first activate the free DashPass benefit.)
Our Verdict
For some time now, DoorDash and Chase partnered to offer DashPass and $5 monthly credits on the Sapphire cards. They’ve now expanded this to add the $10 (2x) credits each month and to offer benefits on Freedom and Slate cards as well. This is obviously Chase’s move to counter-balance the loss of the Instcart benefits offered on Sapphire, Freedom, and Slate cards which expired yesterday (7/31/24).
This is all a bit confusing since some of these benefits have already existed and some are new. I tried making everything as clear as possible, hopefully we got all the details correctly.
Some stores will have a Pickup option on the order and then you’ll be able to get $10 completely free without the added delivery fees. For someone who values this benefit, the $95 annual fee on Sapphire Preferred can now be offset with the $10 monthly credits.

I used my credit toward a WaWa hoagie for lunch. I noticed that the $10 credit removed the sales tax. In the past, other promos didn’t remove sales tax from being charged so that’s kind of interesting.

I called to product change to no annual fee Sapphire. They said it was discontinued. Anyone else try this? Or should I call back again.

How do I activate the quarterly promotion on my Freedom cards if I’ve already signed up via my CSP? Do I just add them to my account and pay with those? DOC says: (To activate the promo discount benefit, you need to first activate the free DashPass benefit.)

Does the $10 monthly credits show up in “DoorDash Credits”
https://www.doordash.com/consumer/payment/
or it just reflects at checkout like a promo code discount?

When you click “Promo codes, rewards & gift cards” during checkout it gives you an option to apply the $10 Chase credit.

Looks like an OK credit, basically $10 a month at 7-11. Should work nicely with the $50 hotel credit in killing the annual fee.

Just realized that this actually is going to be a negative change for those who only do restaurant orders. Removing the $5 credit that can stack for 3 months to instead be a single $5 off promo each month is bad. You won’t be able to stack it with anything else.
So I’ll probably just use the 2 $10 monthly credits for convenience stores instead.

Yep. This makes the $5 monthly credit not roll over into a $15 quarterly anymore. It also won’t stack with discounts anymore.

I’ve been using the Instacart credit monthly, just-barely making the credit or exceeding it by a dollar or two getting Tide, Paper Towels, or Milk at Aldis. Now that the Instacart credits are gone I’ve fortunately got a Dashmart near me. The $20 (via two $10 credits) you get is $5 more than normal, but to balance it out there is notably heavier markup, and less things are under $10 rather than under $15.

Does anyone know if it would be possible to sign up to doordash with one account using chase sapphire preferred. Then upgrade sapphire preferred to reserve and open another doordash account. This way I get a total of 3 – $10 credits with only 1 card. $360 worth of credits and possibly get another $5 here or there from the additional reserve credit. Could be well worth the upgrade.
All I had to do to get the monthly $10 credit on doordash was enter my sapphire prefered card info. I don’t even have to use the card when I pay. I can use any card or a gift card.
So I’m thinking opening up 2 accounts should work.
My first use of the $10 credit was simple. I also stacked with 20% off doordash gift card from Costco. Ordered $35 worth of groceries, $2 tip. for $27 ($21.60 after gift card discount)

Besides being on the wrong side of right, FWIW I downgraded my CSR to CSP and Doordash knew. Got an email within the hour of the benefit change.

Thanks for the heads up. Guess I won’t be upgrading. to CSR. I’m amazed Chase and Doordash are that connected to even let doordash know when someone downgrades or upgrades.

Chase is also tightly connected with United Airlines and with Priority Pass. If you change your Chase credit card, those two partners know it right away.

Multiple accounts and credits work with the same card. Terms say upto 7 AUs. AUs have the same card # and CVV. Worked when I tested. I get 5x $5 credits and 10x $10 convience store discounts on a single CSR.

Has anyone else not gotten the credits for the Sapphire Preferred? Nothing shows up at checkout, so it hasn’t been loaded in my DoorDash account (though my membership does show the 12/2027 expiration for DashPass). Support is suggesting that others are having this issue, but I’m not sure they even know what credits I’m talking about.

Interesting. Something is still wrong with my account and it still doesn’t show in the promo area when I place a convenience store order. Deleting and re-adding my card has done nothing. DoorDash support claims some people are having issues and it should appear for the September credit, so they issued me a $10 manual credit for now. I’m not confident that it’s going to work for me going forward, based on my previous interactions with DoorDash support, however.
