There are so many toothpaste uses that go way beyond just keeping your teeth bright and sparkling. Here are some of the best toothpaste hacks to keep your home sparkling!
Every morning and every night, you head to thebathroomtobrush your teeth you grab that good ole trusty tube of toothpaste and you scrub those teeth super clean. …but did you know that toothpaste is not just for your teeth?
Sparkling white teeth, healthy gums, and a clean tongue is great, but if you are just using your toothpaste for your mouth you are missing out. Your toothpaste can do more, so much more, more than I ever thought possible. lot more.
It’s handy for everything from cleaning to hanging a picture straight… Seriously!
Maybe you bought some toothpaste, and you just didn’t like the taste or the texture? Maybe you decided to stock up when it was on sale; now you have three lifetimes toothpaste tubes with no idea how to use it all. Check out this list of 17 toothpaste uses for some minty fresh surprises.
17 Toothpaste Uses That Will Blow Your Mind (Not on Your Teeth)
My idea of superwoman is someone who scrubs her own floors.

1. Clean Scratches off Your Phone
Your phone works just fine, but it looks a little rough around the edges. Maybe it has tiny scratches that make seeing the screen challenging. Toothpaste to the rescue!! Remove tiny scratches from your smartphone screen. A little dab of toothpaste on a cotton swab will do. Use the cotton swab working the toothpaste in to buff the scratches away.
2. Soap Dispenser Hack
As a mom, I think we have all had this happen a time or two (make that a time or twenty ?). You open the brand new tube all sparkly and fresh with almost none used out of it.
The kids get suspiciously quiet and when you go to check on them they have made a mess of the toothpaste and smeared it all over the bathroom. Not only do you have to deal with the frustration of the beautiful new tube of toothpaste being mangled and mashed, but there is the chore of cleaning up gobs of toothpaste.
There is also usually the waste of most of that brand new sparkly tube of toothpaste.
If this sounds like something that’s happened at your house then you need to do what I did… STOP that mess before it ever gets started.
Squeeze the toothpaste into a clean pump-style soap dispenserinstead. This is also a great way to portion out reasonable amounts. (See morekid-friendly ways to organize the bathroom.)
3. Toothpaste Uses For Your Car: Clean Your Headlights
I don’t know about you, but at my house, Saturday morning is the “car detail” designated time. My husband likes to “surprise me” (it’s hardly a surprise since it happens every Saturday that it doesn’t rain, sleet, or snow) and detail our vehicles. He is pretty handy at it too. I meant he really gets in there taking out all the seats, vacuuming all the creases and crevices, getting out all the crumbs. That’s just on the inside.
He also takes great pride in making the outside glisten and shine. There was one thing that was becoming his nemesis – foggy headlights. Almost by accident, we discovered that you can get that haze off your headlights with a bit of toothpaste and elbow grease. By working the toothpaste into the headlights gives it a great polish and takes away the haze and “fog”.
4. Zit Assist
Why is it that it never fails? If you have something important planned… pictures, a school dance, Prom, a wedding…any number of special occasions you always have to contend with that bright red pimple either on your chin, nose, or forehead.
I mean common I know that pimples are the latest and greatest fashion accessory that all the most stylish gals are sporting this season, but I really would like to change it up a bit from time to time. Don’t let that nasty old pimple get you down. Dab a little toothpaste on a pimple the next time you get one to help it go away fast(er). Not recommended for sensitive skin!
5. Toothpaste Uses You Wish You Knew Earlier – Clean Blood Stains
Just like me always sporting a pimple for all special occasions, it seems my husband is always nicking himself (especially when getting ready for special occasions). I feel like I am always trying to prevent or remove these bloodstains on his collars. I swear it is a fool time job running behind him with bits of toilet paper to blot the for the umpteenth billion nicks.
That doesn’t even take into consideration the kids. The skinned knees and scraped elbows are simply inevitable. Toothpaste will remove dry bloodfrom clothes. Keep an extra tube of toothpaste in the laundry room for those tough stains.
6. Clean the Iron
These days I rarely use my iron except for when I sew. That final press out of the quilt or garment usually means there is starch or sizing involved. This can build up on the plate of the iron. Over time, your iron gets dirty and grimy. Make it spiffy again with some toothpaste.
If you have an old toothbrush laying around (or even one of those manual ones the dentist gives you) it would be perfect for scouring the iron plate with the toothpaste. If you want to really get in there for a good scrub you could use an old toothbrush or even a non-scratch nylon dish scrubber to scour the toothpaste onto the iron’s plate.
7. Hang Posters
I don’t know about you, but I know my husband is super picky about nail holes in walls. Especially if that room is one that has been recently painted. I think this probably has to do with the fact that one of our kids likes to move posters around their room every other day.
Older kids that go to summer camp or, even older, kids that may be headed off to college may be faced with lease or contract agreements banning holes in walls. Maybe you thought you had a plan but it fell through. (As in you just with to Walmart to get the sticky tack for posters and all of the other parents for all the other kids did the same – and now they’re out.)
This is where you have to really get creative as a parent. This is a great hack for any of those “no nail hole” rules. Never fear, hang those posters with a dab of toothpaste. You will have peace of mind and never again be worried about leaving marks or nail holes in the wall.
